The City Library and Arts Centre is an award-winning development which benefits from numerous art commissions, including stained glass windows, flooring and glass designs by Martin Donlin, photography, poetry and carving. All the artworks were commissioned during the development and construction of the centre, and almost all are physically integrated into the fixtures and fittings of the building — am approach which maximises the impact of the art by utilising existing budgets for standard items. It would be impossible to imagine the centre without the artworks which add value to its public spaces.
